Notes from recent GE jobs

The complaint, the diagnosis, and the fix.

A handful of GE repairs we've closed out around Winnipeg recently—what the owner reported, what we found on inspection, and the work that sorted it.

01

Kitchen

GE Profile Dishwasher

St. Boniface

The problem

The panel showed E4 and the dishwasher shut the water off part-way through a cycle.

A slow leak at the door gasket had tripped the flood-protection float in the base pan.

What fixed it

We replaced the worn door gasket, dried and reset the float switch, and ran a full cycle to confirm it stayed dry.

Result: the E4 cleared and no water escaped underneath.

02

Laundry

GE Top-Load Washer

East Kildonan

The problem

The washer filled and agitated but left the load sitting in water with no spin.

A failed lid switch was stopping the machine from moving into the spin cycle.

What fixed it

We fitted a new lid switch, checked the drain pump, and ran a drain-and-spin to prove it out.

Result: the spin returned and the load came out wrung.

03

Refrigeration

GE Café French-Door Fridge

Tuxedo

The problem

The fresh-food side turned warm and the ice maker stopped filling the bin.

Frost had built up over the evaporator and the defrost heater wasn't clearing it, choking airflow to both sections.

What fixed it

We cleared the iced-up coil, renewed the defrost heater, and confirmed the ice maker refilled on its own.

Result: temperatures came back down and ice production restarted.

04

Laundry

GE Front-Load Dryer

Fort Garry

The problem

The drum turned and the timer counted down, but every load came out cold and damp.

A blown heating element and a lint-choked vent run were killing both the heat and the airflow.

What fixed it

We fitted a new heating element, cleared the vent run, and checked the exhaust temperature on a test load.

Result: heat returned and a full load dried in one cycle.

GE repair FAQ

GE appliance repair, answered for Winnipeg homes.

Straight answers on GE symptoms, dishwasher error codes, refrigerator faults, booking and genuine parts—written for Winnipeg households.

01

Which GE appliances and problems do you repair in Winnipeg?

We handle GE refrigerators that won't cool, top- and front-load washers that won't spin or drain, dryers with no heat, and dishwashers that won't drain or flash an error—across GE, GE Profile, Café and Adora lines. Since one symptom can point to several parts, we confirm the fault on site before advising a repair.

02

What do GE dishwasher error codes like E1, E4 or a blinking Start light mean?

On many GE dishwashers, E1 points to a water-inlet problem, E2 to a drainage fault, and E4 to a detected leak that shuts the water off. Older GE units flash the Start light instead of a code, counting out the fault. The code narrows the cause—then a technician confirms the part before replacing it.

03

Why is my GE refrigerator not cooling or making ice?

A GE fridge that drifts warm usually has a frost-blocked evaporator, a failed defrost heater, or a condenser fan or compressor issue starving it of cold air. When the ice maker also quits, the cause is often that same airflow problem, a frozen fill tube or a clogged water filter. We diagnose before replacing any parts.

04

Can you repair my GE appliance the same day in Winnipeg?

Usually we can. Winnipeg bookings for refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers and ranges keep same-day and next-day openings, and the van is stocked with common GE parts. Call in the morning and we can often be at your door by the afternoon—with evening and weekend visits when a breakdown can't wait.

05

Do you fit genuine GE parts, and is the work guaranteed?

Yes. We repair with genuine GE (OEM) parts, so your appliance runs to spec and any manufacturer warranty stays intact. Every job is covered by our own workmanship guarantee too—if the same fault comes back, we return and set it right at no extra call-out charge. See our warranty page for the details.
